‘WandaVision’ Writer Is On Board to Pen the Sequel to ‘Captain Marvel’

The Hollywood Reporter has a new article up where they reveal that a sequel to the 2019 superhero adventure film Captain Marvel is now officially in development at Marvel Studios. After the first film grossed $1.1 billion worldwide, it was only a matter of time before Marvel Studios started officially started working on a follow up.

The trade reports that the writer of WandaVision, Megan McDonnell, has been brought on to write the script for the film. Not expected to return to take the helm of the sequel are Directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck because Marvel wants to find a (solo) female director for the sequel. However, Marvel Studios still wants to work with Boden and Fleck and they are being looked at for a possible Disney+ series.

Brie Larson will reprise the role of Carol Danvers, although at the moment, there are no plot details that have been revealed. It is know that the movie will update the action from the ’90’s to the present day.

Marvel Studios is eyeing a 2022 release for Captain Marvel 2.
