In a show of faith, The CW Network has ordered straight-to-series Superman & Lois, which will star Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, reprising their Arrowverse roles, of Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
In a rare move, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the DC TV series has bypassed the pilot stage, with the show being ordered to debut during the 2020-2021 broadcast season.
“As Arrow was aging and now ending this month, we put Batwoman on. We understand that there’s age limitations to these shows. As they change, we go to the next cycle. As long as you have good tentpole product to go with, you’re in good shape,” Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW network, told the The Hollywood Reporter recently, citing their vast DC Comics universe lineup on the network. The CW’s DC television series next season will boast Black Lightning, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Batwoman and Superman & Lois. All of the Universe shows have already been renewed for next season.
“When Todd Helbing, who’s our showrunner, was telling me about the story for the pilot script for Superman & Lois, I got chills,” Tulloch previously told TV Guide. “It’s so good, and it’s so something we haven’t seen before with them, so I think it’s going to be great.”
We’ll keep you posted as we receive more information on the new Superman & Lois Series.
