The CW Announces ‘Batwoman’ Will Premiere on Sunday’s This Fall, Followed By ‘Supergirl’

This morning, the final television network to do their Upfront Presentation debuted the first trailer for its forthcoming Batwoman series. The CW was on hand and after showing the trailer for the series, they unveiled a couple of images from the pilot. First, check out that trailer yourself below.

The first image doesn’t show all that much, only featuring Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane standing beside a motorcycle in the streets of what is assumed to be Gotham City.

The second image provided, on the other hand, offers not only our first look at Camrus Johnson’s Luke Fox (Lucius Fox’s son), but it also gives us our first look at this series’ version of Batman’s uniform. In the photo, Kate and Luke can be seen standing in the Batcave that Bruce has abandoned, right in front of Bruce Wayne’s suit and arsenal. The utility belt is see here, and so are the grappling gun and batarangs.

The Batman suit in Batwoman appears to be armored heavily, and sports shorter bat ears, much like the costumes donned by Ben Affleck in the DC Extended Universe movies.

During last December’s Arrowverse crossover, Ruby Rose made her debut as Batwoman in the 3-night event titled “Elseworlds.” In the crossover, she was already established as the caped crusader for an extremely dangerous version of Gotham City. But, co-creator Greg Berlanti has already confirmed that the events of this series will predate “Elseworlds” and serve as more of an origin story that firmly establishes how Kate Kane becomes Batwoman.

Developed by Greg Berlanti’s Bertlanti Productions & Warner Bros. Television and Written by Caroline Dries, the Batwoman pilot stars Ruby Rose, Dougray Scott, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Elizabeth Anweis and Nicole Kang. The series will air on Sundays at 8 p.m. The CW did not provide a premiere date, but Batwoman will likely debut sometime at the beginning of October.
