Sony Has Confirmed a Sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’ and Has Given It An Official 2022 Release Date

Sony has finally annmounced via Twitter that the sequel to Sony Pictures’ Academy Award Winning animated feature has been given an official release date of April 8, 2022.

The first film was a huge hit with critics and fans alike, grossing over $375 million Worldwide on a $90 million budget, making it successful enough for Sony to greenlight a follow-up.

The original set of Spider-People (and Pig) (Miles, Peter, Gwen, Porker, Noir and Peni) will all likely be back, although we have no idea what we should expect from the film’s stpryline. Judginging by the post credits sequence in the first film though, the original sixtet may be joined by Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 (Voiced by Oscar Isaac).

Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller will both be back, but but we’ll have to wait and see if Bob Perischetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman will return as the directors.
