The new Disney attraction Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set to open on May 31 at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA and then on Aug. 29 at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
The opening dates for the new Star Wars Lands were announced on Thursday morning by Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger, during his annual shareholders meeting. The themed destination will be ready to take fans to 14 acres of the Star Wars franshise and into the world of the movies they love.
The goal for Disney when the attraction opens this summer, is to make fans believe they have been transported into the world of Star Wars — Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu to be precise.
Two state-of-the-art rides will be key features at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Before today’s announcement, Disney had previously only released plans for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to open in summer 2019 at Anaheim’s Disneyland Resort, and sometime in fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Iger specifically pointed out the upcoming Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride as a key attraction of the parks, while also noting that it will open at a later date. He called it “the most technologically advanced and immersive attraction” the Disney parks have ever seen.
We will be sure to have more details on the new attractions here at World’s Finest Geeks as they roll in.
