‘Gotham’ Update: Jeremiah Seemingly Transforms Into The Joker and Bane is Revealed in New Photos From The Batman Prequel Series

For several seasons of the Batman Prequel Series Gotham, actor Cameron Monaghan has been playing Jerome Valeska, a character who has been closely tied to the birth of the Joker.  AT the conclusion of season 4 earlier this year, Jerome was dead and his twin brother Jeremiah followed in the footsteps of his deranged brother as a maniacal, criminal genius who ended up leaving the city in ruins and chaos.  It had seemed that Jeremiah was ready to become The Clown Prince of Crime and now, with Season 5 coming next year, it appears that the Fox TV series is finally ready to feature the character as Batman’s iconic nemesis.

A new photo has now surfaced online from the set of Gotham gives us a good look at the returning Jeremiah, who has the pale skin of the Joker as well as the signature green hair and colorful, striped suit.  Here is the photo from the set of the series, which is currently in the midst of filming its fifth and final season:

The photo was posted on Sean Pertwee’s Instagram account, the actor who portrays Alfred Pennyworth on the series.  However, the pic has since been deleted. It would seem that the character’s new look was not approved to be revealed just yet, and that could be further proof that Season 5 of Gotham might allow Jeremiah to go full-on Joker.

In addition to this photo reveal, earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly gave us our first official look at Bane from the series in this photo:

Showrunner John Stephens described Gotham‘s Bane as “very, very strong, and very angry … we made him integral to the fact of coming in as a special ops government agent.” According to EW, eason 5 will continue the “No Man’s Land” storyline from the comics, where Gotham City is isolated by the U.S. government from the rest of the country..

“We pick up at the top of season five, at the conclusion of No Man’s Land, Day 365,” Stephens said. “Then, we cycle backwards to day 87, three months into No Man’s Land where Jim has created his green zone and wants his reunification. We’re catching up, and for the first nine episodes, we’re always catching up to that first scene we see.”

The producers also stated that “the fifth and final season will wrap up this unique origin story of the great DC Comics Super-villains and vigilantes, which revealed an entirely new chapter that has never been told.”

The final batch of episodes will feature the return of a number of villains from past Gotham seasons, including the Joker (Cameron Monaghan), Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), Catwoman (Camren Bicondova), Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas), Solomon Grundy (Drew Powell), Mad Hatter (Benedict Samuel), Poison Ivy (Peyton List), Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan), Hugo Strange (B.D. Wong) and The Scarecrow (Charlie Tahan).

Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth. The drama returns for its fifth and final season sometime in 2019 on Fox.
