At the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, J.K. Simmons made a surprise return to his role as J. Jonah Jameson, which fans welcomed with open arms. Now, we have a wild claim about the character, coming from @DRMovieNews1 saying that Simmons role Alex Jones-type JJJ will be what links the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters. That sounds like an interesting idea and this “scoop” has since been confirmed by multiple other online resources.
We had already previously been told that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will swing back and forth between these two shared worlds and this claim goes onto say that Simmons will be making an appearance in next July’s Morbius as J. Jonah Jameson.
It makes sense that Sony would want to link these two worlds in this way, as this would connect them loosely and keep everyone at Sony and Disney happy, as well as the fans. It goes without saying that this should be taken with a large grain of salt, but we will keep you posted as more reputable sources confirm or deny the news sooner or later.
Morbius is set to open in theaters on July 31, 2020 and the next Spider-man movie has been confirmed for a year later on July 16, 2021.
